Cool. The Microphones are really sweet. That is off Mt. Eerie which is an OK EP but Song Islands is a must have.

And yes, Sarah Asher has the little guitar. Her vocals are sometimes a bit much for me but an a few songs she really nails it.

Solar System - The Microphones - Nice and Gentle

Before I Leave - Fennesz - Fennesz is a fascinating figure, one of those electronic musicians I want to explore more. This track reminds me of Stereolab.

Comfy in Nautica - Panda Bear - One of my favorite albums from
2007. I want the vinyl 12"s; they
have different versions of the songs.

What They Want - Inspectah Deck - Nice Isaac Hayes-like background groove on this one.

Pulling Our Weight - Radio Dept. - Ah, Twee Pop. Real nice, purposely distorted early '80s sound.
Another good band from Sweden.

Yennicita - El Michels Affair - Nice. Isn't this a James Brown sample?

Me and Mr. Jones - Amy Winehouse - Winehouse has a great voice, but why does she have to be so nasty? I like her backup band, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, better.

Mother's Whistler - Moondog - I believe Moondog was a genius.

Half Moon - Sarah Asher - One of my favorite songs on this comp. Always nice to discover good new artists, and I'm a sucker for ukeleles (thus my weird addiction to Cliff Edwards' music). Sarah's living in North Carolina now. Her CDs on Tract Records are going fast.

Reckoner - Radiohead - Long may they create.

So Nice So Smart - Kimya Dawson - After Juno (not a bad movie otherwise), I don't want to ever hear another Kimya Dawson song again. Too much faux naivete.

Objects of My Affection - Peter Bjorn and John - Peter Bjorn has a solo album out, The Last Tycoon,
that sounds pretty good.
