I'm Not Breathing - An instant classic.
We Got Some Breaking Up to Do - Super slick, super cool -takes me back to 1985. The best Prince song Prince didn't record.
Heart it Races - Sorry, I just find this really annoying. :(
Keep the Car Running - Good choice from Neon Bible (or, as I like to call it, "The Death Album")
Jazz - Pretty funny although, of course, I love good jazz music.
Not Crying - Funny - the first time.
Challengers - Gorgeous melody. Reminds me of a more awake Cowboy Junkies. Wondering if they're referring to Jack Kirby's characters "The Challengers of the Unknown"?
Working to Work - Sugury catchy, like amusement park elephant ears. Reminds me a lot of The Futureheads.
Dana Gould's schtick on Sinatra rubbed me the wrong way. I'm not saying I liked Sinatra, but the essence of Gould's portrayal
rang false. Frank Sinatra was cool even in decripitude, and not only that, Sinatra was always cooler than Dana Gould has been
and ever will be.
D.A.N.C.E. - Thank heaven that catchy R&B bubblegum pop hasn't gone from the Earth, but is making a comeback. Notice how, like
the Neo-Soul movement, most of it isn't coming from America.
I Can't Rap... - I've heard some Junior Senior I really like, but this one - eh.
Andrew W.K. - This guy's everywhere. He's multi-talented. I wanna be just like him.
Hangar 18 - Yeah!
Midlake - What a beautiful sound. Thanks for turning me on to this group.
Rodeohead - Pretty funny. Wonder if Thom Yorke's heard this? Regardless of the treatment, those
Prokofievian melodies shine right through.
The Polyphonic Spree - I still think they have more concept than actual sustained talent, and much of their albums are filler, but
this song (like many of their songs) is pretty good.
Thanks for posting this! I'm too lazy it seems.
By the way, 2 things:
1. One of the members of Field Music (Working to Work) used to play with The Futurheads - look up the artist School of Language too.
2. Dana Gould is cool, you jerk!
Didn't say Dana Gould isn't cool - I said Frank Sinatra was cooler. :p
I am cooler than either one of you will ever be.
yeah, real cool commenting on a blog entry from June 2008
